Fatty liver

Fatty liver, also known as hepatic steatosis, is a condition characterized by the accumulation of fat in the liver. This fat buildup can lead to liver inflammation and impair liver function. Fatty liver is often asymptomatic, especially in the early stages. Many people with fatty liver do not experience noticeable symptoms. When symptoms are present, they may include fatigue, right upper abdominal discomfort, and mild abdominal distension.
Fatty liver is typically diagnosed through medical evaluation, blood tests, and imaging studies, such as ultrasound, CT scans, or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In some cases, a liver biopsy may be performed to assess the extent of liver damage and determine the underlying cause.
