Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) is a range of liver conditions that result from excessive and chronic alcohol consumption. These conditions can vary in severity, from fatty liver (alcoholic steatosis) to alcoholic hepatitis and, in some cases, alcoholic cirrhosis. ALD is one of the leading causes of liver disease worldwide and is entirely preventable by avoiding excessive alcohol consumption.
Early intervention can prevent the condition from progressing to more severe stages and may improve the chances of recovery. Alcohol use disorders can be treated with counseling, support groups, and medical interventions.
